UPDATE
for August 2010:
During
our Fall 2010 MOMsMart, HAMOM raised more than $211
at the Bake Sale. These proceeds were split between
the Patrick
family's COTA
fund (Children's Organ Transplant Association) and Huntsville
Hospital's Melissa
George Neonatal Memorial Fund.
In
addition to the Bake Sale, HAMOM donated another $65
to Huntsville Hospital's Melissa
George Neonatal Memorial Fund, partially through
the sale of HAMOM cookbooks and also in honor of a recent
member who lost a twin.
HAMOM
members participated in Swim
for Melissa, a fund-raising effort by the Melissa
George Neonatal Memorial Fund, which raises money
that benefits Huntsville Hospital's NICU. HAMOM donated
$100 to the HAMOM Minnows and the team raised a total
of $687 through the event!
When
you add it all together, during the month of August,
HAMOM and its members were able to donate than $850
to the Melissa
George Neonatal Memorial Fund! Way to go MOMs!
UPDATE
for June 2010:
Member
Amy Salter was able to see first hand the generosity
our HAMOM members and friends were able to give in memory
of her son Jacob Salter, who passed away due to complications
from Twin
to Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS). The Salters
were left with a huge financial burden after the loss
of their son, in addition to the costs associated with
the birth and NICU stay of her twins.
From
February 15 - March 15 HAMOM and its members took time
to seek out donations for the Salters. During this drive,
which included to Spring 2010 Bake Sale at MOMsMart,
HAMOM was able to raise more than $3000 for the Salters.
Some of our MOMsMart consignors
also chose to donate a percentage of their profit from
their personal sales.
Many
local merchants helped us with the drive by donating
prizes. Each person who donated during the drive was
entered into a "Thank You" prize drawing.
Please visit our Sponsors
page to see those who donated prizes.
Every
single donated dollar went directly into the Salter
Twins Donation Account at RFCU. You can read more at
Amy & Ken's Caring
Bridge Salter Twins site.
UPDATE
January 2010:
In
addition to HAMOM being a support organization for MOMs
(Mothers of Multiples), HAMOM also provides charitable
donations through our main fund-raising event, MOMsMart.
MOMsMart is HAMOM's semi-annual consignment sale that
takes place in the spring and in the fall. Proceeds
of our raffle and bake sale benefit the Patrick
family's COTA
fund (Children's Organ Transplant Association) and Huntsville
Hospital's Melissa
George Neonatal Memorial Fund.
HAMOM
would like for all of our surrounding communities to
know how much HAMOM as an organization has been able
to give to worthy causes and individuals in 2009. In
keeping with our mission, all of our 2009 charitable
donations have provided support, in one way or another,
to mothers of multiples in our community. Our members'
contributions of precious time, energy, and gently used
items are greatly appreciated and have been put to very
good use!
In
addition to our raffles and bake sales during MOMsMart,
which once again benefit the Patrick
family's COTA
fund (Children's Organ Transplant Association) and Huntsville
Hospital's Melissa
George Neonatal Memorial Fund, HAMOM was able to
purchase many un-sold preemie clothing from our Fall
MOMsMart for donation to the Huntsville Hospital NICU.
The NICU gives the clothing to parents or caretakers
who otherwise may not be able to provide them for their
preemies.
HAMOM
members participated in Swim
for Melissa, a fund-raising effort by the Melissa
George Neonatal Memorial Fund, which raises money
that benefits Huntsville Hospital's NICU. Many of our
MOMs have seen their preemies benefit from the extraordinary
donations made to the NICU through this charity, and
many of them are more than happy to work to raise money
to benefit future preemies.
HAMOM
members also participated in the Liz
Hurley Ribbon Run. This annual event not only raises
awareness of Breast Cancer, but the proceeds of the
event directly benefit the Breast Center at Huntsville
Hospital.
In
addition to all the wonderful events HAMOM was proud
to be a part of, 2009 was wrapped up by a huge donation
to the Salvation Army's Christmas Tree Angels. HAMOM
adopted two sets of twins from the Angel Tree and purchased
much needed clothing and very much wished for toys.
Our MOMs came together to shop, wrap and deliver the
gifts back to the Salvation Army with plenty of time
to spare. It was a great way to end a wonderful year
for HAMOM.
In
all, HAMOM was able to donate more than $1400 of our
proceeds from MOMsMart towards these charities, and
we look forward to being able to do it again in 2010.
HAMOM
members work very hard to increase the success of MOMsMart
each year so we are able to not only meet the same donations
from previous years, but to go above and beyond those
numbers.
Please
take a moment to visit our MOMsMart
page to learn more about the event. We hope to see you
there!
